Hi, I am looking at buying a 1998 DR350 and I have just been to look at one with 9500 miles on the clock which I like but there are a couple of things that I am not too sure about. The main thing is a loud metallic crack noise coming from the engine when you turn the ignition off. It sounds a bit like someone hitting the casing with a small hammer.I have heard this before on some bikes but is it normal? Is it something that wil need looking at? Will it cost me a fortune?
Another thing is that the engine sounds slightly rattly. Is this normal for a big single? Having never owned one before I have no clue.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

hey ,do you have a batteri probleme, sommetime the bolt on your stator
comming loose and it toching the stator and ythe batteri is note charging .
those bolt is holding the one way bering for your electriq starter,this is the engine cover on the left side on the engin, checkit,before is to late . good luck!!!!
