Default Help me my carbs suck

I bought a 91 suzuki katana 600 for my first legal bike, it has 3083 origional miles on it when i got it. The problem im having is the 2nd owner let it sit for almost 10 years with bad gas. The guy who fixes my dads atv's got the bike runnign but the last carb( sitting on the bike its the carb on the far right) that cyl. wouldnt fire until apx 2500 rpms, once the bike got warmer it would run better. Then 2 days later I went out to go to work and I had a puddle of gas under the bike, I guess whats happening is the float on that carb sticks fouls out the plug and refuses to let it start, when you clean the plug off it will start, but it will do the same thing again, im to the point where im thinking it would be easier to just replace the carbs... I need to know excatly what would fit on my motorcycle, such as would a 95 750 katana carb rack fit on my bike... would a 98 600 katana carb rack fit mine... I dont have any idea where to turn for a cross reference on this, like i said its my first bike... and i find a forum is more informitive then any dealer... thanks for any help... Billy

i had a friend who let his bike sit long enough to ruin the fuel in the tank, and in the process, it also fouled up the carbs..he had them rebuilt, and it ran fine.

well its been at the shop for a while, and they said they replaced the floats and the needles when they take the bowls off there getting sediment, and ive already got that crap that seals the tank, im in rhodeisland and like the rest of the country its MUGGY my buddy jsut got his motorcycle for cheap and he is ridein already, i dunno ill take them and rebuild them myself, i was wondering how interchangable the carbs are between years and sizes, i imagine that they cant be too far different they attach with rubber lines and do the same thing.. alrite thanks

going to a larger carb will require retuning, and smaller internals in the carb

i think that this forum is spread all over the world...and its a newer site, so something like that would be difficult.

How about the ignition? Have you tried replacing the packs and plugs? I doubt its a busted carb.
