Default Rust in gas tank

I recently purchased a 2001 Suzuki Bandit GSF1200, the poor bike sat for 15 years in a garage. Was told the bike had 12 miles on it, hooked a battery up and the gauge cluster lit up and showed 0 miles.

anyways, The tank has a decent amount of rust. Nothing damaging to the integrity of the tank, seems to be all surface.

Anyone have any good solutions for removing the rust? I know im not going to get every single bit of it out, I do plan on putting a seal in the tank. As of right now this is the biggest thing stopping me from getting on it and riding.

Thanks in advance

Buy a tank lining kit. It will clean, etch the interior and seal with rubber-like lining. I did mine 17 years ago and still good. On another bike, I skipped the lining and regretted it months later.

Where do you get a tank lining kit. I've got a '04 VZ1600 bad rust in the tank!
