I am helping a friend with a 2002 SV650. He bought a Balliatic Battery that I installed in place of his dead battery. During one of his high speed runs, the battery started to smoke and the engine died. Since the battery was still under warranty, they sent him a new one for 1/2 the price. I replaced the battery and the regulator thinking that the regulator over charged the battery and caused it to melt. When I went to start it, I had no spark and had to change the CDI unit. Bike started and he went on his merry way. After a month or so, during another high speed run the battery started smoking and melting to the point of melting the battery top and exposing the individual cells, it melted to the battery box and had to be pried out, it looked like it was in a fire. Has anyone out there experienced this problem, he's expecting another battery but I'm leery about installing it
