2005 Suzuki Boulevard C50 5500 miles Question
 

I just bought the bike and am going to do an oil change and gear oil change.
1 What oil (synthetic) should i use
2. What weight, brand and synthetic or not of gear or tranny oil?

Also how hard is it to change the spark plugs I know the seat has to come off. Is it hard to get the seat off, etc?

The seat is ez start from the back remove passenger seat 1st and you will see the the next step.
Oil Alot are going with Rotella in the blue jug from wal-mart. Gear oil not sure.

I use 15-50 or 10-40 suzuki synthetic, do not use car motor oil (castrol, mobil,pennzoil) as they are different and could cause clutch trouble in a wet clutch system like the c50. Use only motorcycle approved synth. oil, (yamaha,suzuki,honda,kawasaki brand) would be your best bet.

As for your gear oil you need SAE80w hypoid oil Brand does not matter but make sure it is hypoid oil. Just go to a bike shop and ask for gear oil to change your shaft drive.

the seat is easy just remove the rear bolt to the passenger seat slide the seat back to unhook it, then there are 2 bolts that hold the driver seat down, after that pull the seat off and there is one bolt that holds the tank on, you will need to remove that as well as the 3 bolts that hold the instrument panel on then pull backward and up to pull the tank loose(there is a rubber mount on both sides of the frame that the tank slides into thenall you need to do is pull the fuel line off and plug it( it would be very wise to to this on an empty tank or very little gas in it to make the tank lighter.) then you will be able to access your plugs. It is a good idea to purchase a sservice manual for your bike if you do not know a lot about your bike or plan on working on it yourself. You do not want to screw something up. Take a mechanics word for it
