C50 key/ignition slot very hot
Just passed 1,000 mile mark on my new '05 C50 and after my ride today, I noticed that the key/ignition slot area was extremely hot when I went to remove the key. It was warm today, 95+, and I rode about 100 miles (broken up with about 1 1/2 down time in the middle of the ride). So, should I be worried about this? Have not noticed it before this ride.
Thanks for any help!

Nah, not considering the ambient temp you mention. Unless it is red hot. But that would melt the plastic down on it. I suppose if I was mounted above the radiator and in close proximity to the motor it would be very warm. Did you ride, park and than pull the key?
I'm at about 1700 miles on n '05 C50T. I traded a '02 H-D Sportster for it an am very happy with it.

JSAC50T, I'm also thinking about trading my 2000 sportster for a C50T. My sporty has had the 1200 Buell upgrade, & actually has ALOT more power than I need. What convinced you to make the trade? How are the cruising capabilities of the C50T? Will it run 70-75 MPH comfortably for 2-3 hrs.? I've sat on a C50T at the dealership,(felt really comfortable), but haven't riddin one yet. Have you found anything that you DON'T like about the C50T? Anything you would change? Any problems? Thanks.

I have about 4K miles on my 05, C50, My key gets a little warm also, but I am riding in Indio CA, which is about 20 feet below sea level and yesterday was 101 deg. My C50 will run in these conditions all day at 85 to 90 mph and never get hot, and still easy on the back side.
