I am also a newbie trying to decide on either a C90 or C50. I was originally leaning towards the C90...but thats only because I want something that is calm and comfortable at freeway cruising speeds over long distances. If the C50 is able to do that too, then I would welcome the huge decrease in MSRP. How does the C50 feel on the freeway?
I ride an M50, I'm 6' 300# and my bike has no problems at freeway speeds. I took it on a road trip over Memorial day weekend to my brother in lnlaws house in Wenatchee, Wa. I live outside of Portland, Or. I covered 750+ miles that weekend. Finally topped out my bike climbing 6000 ft passes, at 80-85 mph. I hope that's enough speed and power for you to compare with. On flatter areas I still don't know how fast it will go, cause most of the time I stay at 60-65.
When I had it topped out going uphill, I don't believe the engine was maxed out, if there was a sixth gear I believe it could've gone faster. 70-75 on regullar roads is effortless. Even carrying my big butt around. I've had it up to 90, engine purring and no vibration worth noticing. This bike is one well put together machine. I've ridden myfriends Harley tour model. Even at highway speeds it has more vibration than the my Suzuki m50.

I am definately a newbie to motorcycles, but here are my two cents.
I purchased a 2007 Boulevard c50, and have ridden a little under 1,400 miles on it to date. I can say that I have hadno problems on the highways....I cruise around 80 miles per hour daily (to keep up with traffic), and the bike does just fine. However, that being said, I have no other biking experience to compare it to....so I have no idea what difference if any more weight or higher cc's would have. But keep in mind, that I am a 100% self taught rider, and as such was an incredibly nervousrider, and am grateful that the bike did not give me any reason for concern. All in all I am completely satisfied with my purchase, and do not feel any slower or sluggish vs. other riders I see on highways. By the way, I too am 5'10 and weigh 240lbs.

I have had a C50T then upgraded to the C90. I must say the torque is a lot more with the C90 and I would suggest experience with a mid size bike before upgrading to the 1000+ cc bikes. Bigger is nice but not always better, the C50 is an amazing bike, if you plan 2 up riders in mountains the C90 out performs. I live in Yukon and drive a lot in Alaska, big highways with big climbs the C90 rules

The C90 only has 8 more horse power than the C50 but it is a 700ish pound 1500cc monster. It is air and oil cooled as opposed to the water cooled C50. Both are excellant machines however I do not like wrestling all the weight of the C90 around turns etc. The 90 only has eight more horsepowerbut itsextra weight eats that right up. Yes it does have more tourque but so what. Ijust don't want to wrestlethat beast around turns. For me it just takes the fun out of the ride. The C50 has about 60 horse power and pretty good tourque.
I think back to when I was riding in the 80's, 650's ruled the streets and if you had a 750 you were going cross country.Bigger isn't always better which goes against the typical American mind set these days. I like the water cooled 805cc C50 better for me. It will pull you and anything else you can tie to it quite well. As I said, in the 80's guys were riding 650's everywhere 2 up with no problems. Todays motorswith EFI are pulling better than ever.
I am in no way knocking the C90. I love the C90 it just isn't my preferance. I just felt for the above reasons I'd rather spend the extra cash on something else. I haven't regreted it. My C50 turns 2 in April. and I still love it. Here's a link where they do a pretty good job compairing the C50 and Kawasaki Volcan. It's a good read.
so im a 51yo female, 185lbs and I've had the 2005 c50 for 16 years. Love riding it, however I want more power. Considering the c90. Any advice on the difference? Im buying new so am not against a 2020 c50. I've have mine up to 130 but for about 30 seconds. I do find it difficult to keep up on the highway with bigger bikes going 90 with me at 80mph. Im just worried the c90 may be too heavy with the 200 extra pounds with diminished handling.
