tail light lens replacement

tail light lens replacement
I did a stupid thing. Tried to roll my pristine 2012 C50 into my garage on a slant and tilt on my driveway in an awkward position. So she ever so slowly tips over and takes me with her as the tail light lens crunches into the tow hook on the front of my F150. Fortunately only the bottom of lower pipe and the right footplate have minor scratches on their undersides.
I've searched everywhere I know of online to find a replacement lens and have had no luck. Appears to order the part new I have to buy the complete assembly. over $200. not. Any ideas?
I think I may just remove the assembly and try to repair the lens - maybe do something creative with the plastic. That brings me to my next question: how does the assembly come off? Will I have to remove the complete rear fender? I assume if the bulb burns out that's the only way to replace it?
TIA
