Newbie bike owner, inquiring about first service?
 

Hey guys!
I am new to the whole bike thing, but have had my 2007 boulevard c50 for several months now (a little under 1,400 miles to date). I've lost my manual, and am wondering as to when I should do my first service, what this would consist of, and whether I should just do it at the Suzuki dealership I purchased the bike from? I have always assumed that getting anything done at a dealership equaled more money. But again, I am new to the biking thing, and am unfamiliar with how to proceed. I am located in San Diego, Ca and am open to any suggestions or advice. Also, anyone have an idea of what this service should cost me??

1st service should have been around 600. It's smart to let the dealer at least do the 1st few services unless you're an ace mechanic, just to avoid any warrenty hassles. If I recall the 1st service is like oil, checking nuts & bolts, valve adjustments and fuel injector adjustments if needed. I didn't really look at it since I bout my 05 M50 with 2000 miles on it. Hope this helps you some.

Right now I'm doing every other service to save$.

OUCH! Wow so I am waaaayy past my time.
Thanks for the info....any idea what this service will cost? Also, how much damage could I be doing for not having done it in the correct time?

just finally had my valves adjusted at 8000 miles. cost me 125 bucks in wisconsin, prolly be more in a big city there. goodluck riding

The dealer where I bought my bike has this program called a pit pass. They take the next 6 services and cut the cost in 1/2 which you pay upfront. My cost for the pass was $1050. I know the schedule if you have them do everything ranges from $300 to $900.
If you've been treating your bike nice and keepng an eye on fluids, tightening bolts, you should be ok. If they give a stink about the 1st service if a warrenty issue comes up, tell them you did it yourself. At 7600 milesI can tell you I've had no problems with mine except for having to not ride this week because they had to order a new rear tire.
