Default ***** LOUDER PIPES *****

Hello all, I don't know the technical aspects of motorcycles and know noone that knows bikes so any help would be very much appreciated. Have an '05 M50 and like most feel like it's too quiet. Want to put some louder pipes on it, probably Vince & Hines Straight Shots.

Questions is, I hear about'Power Commander', how expensive is it and do I need this along with the pipes?

Can a novice install pipes or best left to the bike shop? They quoted me $147 to do it.

Thanks again, Dale

Good question????

My last bike was a Harley Heritage, with screaming eagles. I loved that sound,
perhaps one of our group here will tell us how we get that deep growling sound out of these bikes. I have a M50.
I have been thinking aboutunbolting the current exhausts from the engine just a little to see what this engine sounds like, what do you think?

Lots of hits to your post but no replies?
Here is somehting else I was wondering about.
Why is it that all these better pipes, like Vance and Hines, are so skinny?
I like the big flared look of my M50 pipes, I just don't like the sound.
I noticed on my M50 pipesthat the upper parts have some bolt on chromeshields. I wonder if any one makes some bolt on chrome pieces that make skinny pipes look bigger?

MDM50,
Perhaps here is a little help!
If you go to the Cobra site they have some demo's of how their pipes would sound. They have several different types. You might have to fill in thier on line email form to listen, but here is the link.

I talked to Vance and Hines a few minutes ago. It sounds like they have great pipes, and the set for my bike(the M50)is $379 plus shipping. BUT,the service rep there says they will not work right unless you add a fuel module, and the fuel module is $279, andmy local dealerwill not install these pipes. On the other hand,The Cobra pipesare $479 with a life time warranty, and the dealer here says no module is required.I am sure there will be no comments, but just to let you know.

Howdy all,

I have a 2005 Suzuki M50 and have Cobra pipes on it. They are the Classic Slashcut Cobras. I bought the bike used and theywere already installed on it. They sound great. The looks and the sound of the bike was one of the main reaons I bought it. It's been great ever since.

Spatch!

personally i love the pipes and the sound on my M50 infact i get quite a few good comments from people on how they sound-usually i had passed them and they caught up to me at stop lights. I love the refined pipes and low sound of them though. when i find the page with aftermarket parts ill put it on here

O.K. I bought the Cobra streetrod slashdowns and just had them installed. What a great sound, if you like that low, loud, rumble that a bike should sound like this works
.
My last bike was a Harley Softail Heritage with Screaming Eagles.
This bike was a slug compared to my new M50, but had a great sound.
My M50 now sounds just like my Harley Heritage.
Many import riders like the quieter sound, but if you want that low rumbling growl these Cobra pipes are just great!
