M50 electrical fire
Attention: all suzuki cruiser 2005 buyers! i have recently purchased a 2005 M50 just over a month ago. 2 weeks ago the main fuse blew while i was doing around 80k/hr. the bike totally shut down, i tried to bump start it and locked the rear tire up. cars were coming up on me pretty quickly and with curbs on both sides of the road there was no where to go. i called the dealership and informed them i had just washed the bike prior the ride and they said that may have been the problem. Does this mean i can never be caught in the rain? i don't buy it. this happened on a wed. nite. put the spare fuse in and it blew as well. put another fuse in and the bike was fine. i rode in to work on thurs. nite. rode home on fri. morn, rode in to work fri.nite and home again sat. morn. on sat nite i rode in to work again. the bike sat for an hour and i then went to move to where i normally park it put the key in and took the bars out of the lock position and heard a funny noise, thinking it may have been the rubber wheels on painted concrete i continued walking it until i saw smoke coming from just in front of the fuel tank behind the handle bars. i took the key out and everything stayed on. walked around to the front of the bike and noticed flames dancing around behind the ignition switch cowling. to make a long story short CALL YOUR DEALERSHIP AND HAVE THEM CHECK YOUR BIKE. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, NO ONE WANTS TO BE A FLAMING MOE GOING DOWN THE ROAD.

RE: M50 electrical fire
I had similar problem...Mine didnt cathc fire though
But since the day I bought it it was blowing fuses.. It truned out to be wire that supposed to be ran behind the front forks..that was actually factory ran in the front. Same deall though blew fuse like 7 times before the dealer could figure it out.
Had to walk mine 6 miles ...
Not to pleased with the bike thus far.
Its a sexy looking bike, that seems to have been put together by retards.

RE: M50 electrical fire
at this point i think dealers know about the problem. i got a recall letter for my 2005 m50 and didn't have the time to go and do it. they said in the letter that the problem is related to the ignition switch. it'll be fixed for free. everyone owning an 05 should call their dealers and let them know about the problem.
otherwise, super duper bike
love it
