Suzuki M50..removing and reinstalling rear fender bolts..(tutorial)
 

Hey all..new to the forum here and i have a 2008 m50 and just wanted to put my two cents in on something. Recently i decided to add a cobra mini sissy bar to my bike which already had a saddle bag bracket on it when i bought it. So looking around the internet for the best way to do this couldn't really find anything, except that once you pull the bolts out, the front ones don't line up anymore and to just jiggle the fender to get them back in...well i thought that was pretty vague and I actually tried that and it didn't work. So after stepping into it and getting the job done i thought i would give a little tutorial on the best way to do this( at least what worked for me) so hopefully anyone out there getting ready to do this will save some aggravation. Ok here we go...
Also they say pull out one bolt at a time..i can tell you it doesn't matter, because i tried it both ways... but for the sake of this we will start with the bolt closest to the tank.

Doesn't matter which side you start on so we will start on the right side if you are standing at the rear of the bike. Take out the bolt closest to the tank. This bolt goes through a nut that is welded to the frame. The back bolt is also held on by a nut but you will need a socket wrench to hold the nut because this one is loose. Now you can leave the back bolt in but i can tell you it doesn't matter, as soon as you pull the front one out it will no longer line up correctly with or without the back bolt in.

So now you want to get the new bolts in..the easiest way that worked for me is as follows..with your left hand on the fender back towards the tail light, kind of push the fender straight over ( like your pushing the bike over but not that hard) while doing this start the front bolt closest to the tank and it should line up correctly...once the bolt is in....start the back bolt and it will go in easily if you lift up on the fender a little.

Now to do the bolts on the other side..starting with the one closest to the tank...once you have the old ones out and are ready to put the new ones in...grab the fender on the opposite side and pull towards you while starting the front bolt and it should line up correctly..and the back bolt will go in if you lift up a little.
