S50 Brake Light Problem
 

Hi all. Just bought a new/used S50. 2009 with 217 miles. It's been stored under a cover in a carport for 2 years; in good shape. Problem: With the ignition switch ON, the brake light stays in ON (even without brakes applied.) When I switch to Park, the brake light goes out, tail light stays on. In case it's a stuck switch, I only know how to depress the hand and foot brake to hear the "clicks". All fuses are good. Replaced the bulb. I've traced the wiring schematic down to Br, B/W, & W/B. These go to the two switches, turn relay, ignition switch, and fuse box.

I can't figure this out. Am I missing a relay somewhere? Other note of interest is that the seller replaced the ignition switch for me, but thats a simple matter of tighten the switch on, and click into the connector. Other than physically checking the two switches (if I can find them), I'm stuck :confused:.

ANy suggestions?

UPDATE: Found the problem. The rear brake relay cable was rusted, and holding the switch in the ON position. After removing it, the brake light went out. After that, the hand lever turns the brake light ON/OFF properly. Now I need to replace the cable (too rusted to clean and oil.) But this won't keep it off the road since the hand brake still works the light! Whew!
