Default Are your Pipes discoloring or turning Blue?

I have 3036 miles on my 2005 Suzuki S83 Boulevard and the pipes are bluing. This is an untouched bike straight from the dealer with nothing more than the check-ups at the dealership. Suzuki won't do anything about it. They tell me it's a "cosmetic problem" not a "performance problem". Then they passed me off to the Extended Warrantee folks. I'm still waiting on their decision as to what they will do. Here is a picture of what one of my pipes looks like.

Just got an 06 S-83 and after about 300 kms. the left hand head pipe

started getting black spots and rust. Not sure what there going to do about it

yet; they'll decide when I bring it in for the first service which should be in a

couple of weeks. Keep you posted

unless you have a plastic or metal shield/cover over it you are gunna notice the blueing or changing of colors on the pipes-this is normal. As the pipes get hot they will change color. My M50 has chrome shields over the exhaust headers but the pipes underneath are already blued. I have somewhere along the lines of 6k miles on it. It is a normal thing and all i can say is get some covers to go over it or live with it. Warranty wont cover it cuz it isnt a performance based thing. it is purely cosmetic.

and Hiscott as for your problem the rust and the black stuff are seperate issues the black stuff could be soot from a leak in the exhaust system somewhere and the rust could be a variety of issues.
