95 Vitara camshaft timing

95 Vitara camshaft timing
Fitted reco head to G16B 1.6 Litre 16 valve motor. Can only get it to run when camshaft timing is 2 or 3 cogs out! Tried the distributor in all positions. Has anyone got any clues? Looking forward to your reply, Thanks, Tim
