Daytime Running Lights
Can someone tell me how to disable the Daytime Running Lights? Simply pulling the fuse kills the headlights, so that doesn't work. I am thinking that maybe there is a relay, or something, at the emergency brake lever that could be jumped.

RE: Daytime Running Lights
What vehicle? On An Aerio its located behind the glove compartment, youll have to open it all the way and unbuckle it so you can get behind it. Basiclly youll have to unplug a harness and then run a jumper so youll be able to tell that your E-brake is on or not.
Ill try and find you a link |

ORIGINAL: Patrick i dont care for DRL...are you guys fond of them? BTW lots of useful Aerio info on that guys site! Check it out...even if you like your DRLs. |
RE: Daytime Running Lights
you got pulled over for having your DRLs on??
|
RE: Daytime Running Lights
Well its like this, the Aerio comes with a digital dash, always lit. And well at night, you get in, start up and then the DRLs would come on...you look at the dash and all thats digital, like I said is lit...so DRIVE ON! Until...[&:][:@] and then it hits ya! You dont have your friggin lights on...and the reason they notice is cause the tails arent lit like the headlights!
The only way to tell that the headlights arent on, is to look at the temperature controls on the A/C, when the headlights are on its lit up, but even then its not much difference enught to really notice. And as I said...this always happens at the wrong time![sm=badidea.gif] |
RE: Daytime Running Lights
I pull the e-brake up to the first click, lights go off, brakes are not rubbing, everyone is happy.

|
RE: Daytime Running Lights
As soon as I read your post, thanks for that!
Do you know where I could get a shop manual like it LOOKS like that d00d has there? |
RE: Daytime Running Lights
Ebay has them from what I understand...and I think they are about $40 if Im not mistaken.
|
RE: Daytime Running Lights
I will have to look into it.
|
RE: Daytime Running Lights
Hey when you find one, give me a link and Im sure to buy one too.
|
RE: Daytime Running Lights
So, Okay, I broke down and subscribed to a 30 day viewing of the service manual. The "DRL" control module on the '05 Forenza is located under the left side of the dash, immediately behind the hood release mechanism. I simply unplugged the thing and viola...... No more lights! No jumper needed to keep the E Brake idiot light functional either.
