For more than 8 months I have been trying to locate a low mileage replacement 1.6L engine for my 1997 Sidekick (JS) 4dr. Is there anyone on this forum able to assist me?

 

have you checked salvage yards? when in college my roommate had a 94 or so tracker, and when the engine went, he got a salvage motor...

 

Yep.... I had an established auto garage try salvage yards but have been unsuccessful so far. What I need to know is this...........can a 1.6L EFI motor from a 1997 Tracker be swapped without any problems?

 

Tracker and sidekick are same. Instead of a bone moto, I would scour the web for remanufactured, warrantied engines; there are a few good places that will get you a good rebuilt on a crate to your door for under 1500. I dont recall the URL ... I'll post if it comes to me.
