non-shielded wire repair

Sorry title should rear more like: Shieled wires - non shielded repair

I don't know why someone would do this, but the cranckshaft sensor (2000 grand vitara v6) wires were cut. Both connectors are gone, and the "repair" is butt connectors and "new" wires.
The story goes. The guy replaced the crank sensor, (somehow) broke it in the process. Replaced it again, then proceeded to hack at the harness.

So to be clear (I should go get a picture). The harness connector has been cut off and the crank sensor connector has been cut off. The wires in place now are larger gauge red, white, and black. For whatever reason, they do not single run. These red, black, and white wires have a third splice point.

But enough about the horror of it all.
Will this repair cause a problem, if the original wires were shielded?

I am also looking for the FSM and ETM
