Suzuki Engine Sound, are they all loud?

Hi, I recently bought a 2001 Grand Vitara, the engine is very loud, when i rev the engine above 5000rpm in neutral, it sounded like a truck, is it normal? is all suzuki engine loud?
thanks for any opinions.

does the sound seem to be coming from under the hood, or under the car?

Ive read this post in couple forums...have you even bothered to get down on the ground and look to see if there has been any work on the exhaust? It should be quite obvious if they had...if your still concerned take it to a muffler shop...but realize, you are driving a truck!

i knwo that some of these had problems with the flex piece falling apart, especially if it has high mileage

Hi, my name is Grumpy and ShortBusx hates me because I am going to make his car blow up using bad karma voodoo from My SX.

Now that's finished: Yahoo: Firstly, Don't rev your car to 5 grand at idle. Not good for motor. My wifes 02 vitara had the bolts rust out and break that hold the cat outlet to the muffler inlet. They have spring loading - the "flex" aspect that others have mentioned. The coupling gasket there will be failed also. Check this first. Suzuki engines can be noisey if they are failing, but should be quiet otherwise. Shots' car is STILL running so use his advice on motor oil and filters, etc. I obviously made bad choices - or played my CD player too much without wearing my tin foil hat;)
