1400 Intruder
94 1400 suzuki Intruder. 28000 miles. Started making some rattling noises while riding. Also noticed more vibration. Started missing. Changed plugs. Very black with carbon. Now misses very badly. Blows black soot out exhaust. Have I destroyed the engine.? I have been riding all summer in the mountains of west virginia. Lots of slow low RPMs.

RE: 1400 Intruder
have you tried a compression test? anything unusual in the oil? very poor fuel mileage?
|
RE: 1400 Intruder
Black soot out the pipes usually indicates a flooding carb, Would doubt you have a major engine problem.

RE: 1400 Intruder
has the carb ever been serviced?

One exception is the throttle, which is single pull cable. That lack of updates is probably why they are losing market share. |

does anyone know why the horsepower of a 1991 model was 71 hp and later models 60 hp?

I am having Hell trying to get the wiring to work. When I turn the ignition on, pull the clutch. and push the start button, I get a lot of chatter from a hungry fuell pump but no starter. The solenoid is OK if I charge it with probes. I need to know where the compression release control box is located, It's a 1991 VS1400GLP

The clutch switch was faulty. Starter runs OK now. I was really worried when what I was told was the drain plug was dry as well as just a few ounces of dirty oil came out when I changed the filter. salesman at a hardware store used to be a Suzuki dealer/mechanic and told me the drain on early ones (my 1991) was at the rear of the tranny. I got about a gallon of clean oil out of it. Refilled with 10W30 full synthetic. Got fed up trying to attach battery leads and brought battery home and secured the post nuts with Shoo Goo
