80 GS550 Carb Help. Missing Hose?
Howdy. I just picked up an 80 GS550L. I took off the carbs to clean them. I just bought the bike and know nothing about it. It no longer has the air box on it has little k&Ns for each carb. With the carbs off I realized that there are two tubes that don't have a hose connected to them. Does anybody know what they are? Should I block them off? Also the tube coming out of the fuel tank at the part with the wires(I believe it is the fuel sender) doesnt have a hose on it maybe they are connected? I think I noticed fuel coming from them when I was futsing around with the carbs but I could be wrong. I have included a picture to show the tubes. My manual was no help. Maybe there is a Suzuki guru who can help me out.

RE: 80 GS550 Carb Help. Missing Hose?
ah, this is the same as my gs550e (earlier model) except that it looks that those to pipes can be moved where as mine are fixed nipples, haynes manual's are as usuall useless and miss important details like where your vacum pipe goes.
If you look at your fuel tap there should be a nipple smaller than the one that is for fuel, this should connect to one of the pipes that are circled on your carb, the other one can be blanked of, by a piece of pipe with something wedged in the end.
This vacum is what operates your fuel tap, inside there as a diaghram which i think lets the fuel through under a vacum.
After cleaning the carbs and reassembling on your bike, turn the tap to the PRI postion, this will allow the carbs to fill up with fuel without the vacum.
