Bike does not charge battery
I have a 05 boulivard C-90. I just bought a new battery and put on it,but after riding about 50 miles the battery goes completely dead ( like bike dies while riding down the road ).I checked the fuses and they were all ok. Doesanyone have an idea what might cause that ?

RE: Bike does not charge battery
Hi Mr. robinhood024,
I'm not really familiar with the charging systems on the newer bikes, but there are three basic components to the circuit. There's a stator (like an alternator, generating current/voltage), a regulator/rectifier (that turns AC into DC and regulates the voltage output), and the battery. Sometimes it's a simple as fixing a bad ground connection on the regulator/rectifier. Normally, if your system is overcharging, the r/r is bad. If your system is undercharging, the stator is bad. A bad r/r can ruin a stator if the r/r is not replaced quickly. There should be a troubleshooting procedure in your factory manual that will help you determine which component(s) is (are) bad. But first, check and clean all of the electrical connections, the fuse box too.
Thank you for your indulgence,
BassCliff
