Bike Won't Turn Over

Bike Won't Turn Over
I have a '01 SV650S that just won't turn over. I've tried two different batteries. Both are fully charged, and when I put them in the bike, it starts the bike. But if I let it sit for more than two days, the bike's lights will come on, but the engine won't catch. I am now hearing a rapid ticking when the ignition switch is engaged. I like to do my own work, and no, have not bought a manual yet, and will, but thought that I might get some ideas from people who may have had a similar experience. I've been told these bikes don't have starters, per se, or that maybe it's a relay switch in the starter- either one sound more logical? Are these easy-ish fixes for a novice mechanic?

Hi Mr. snbundy,

...and see if this helps you get a handle on your charging system.
Are you saying that if you put in a new, known good, fully charged battery, the bike will drain it by sitting for a couple of days? Are you sure the batteries you are using are good?
Thank you for your indulgence
