Default Noob Choke Operation?

Just picked up my first bike a few days ago. An 80 GS550L. The choke puller seems to be stuck. My question is that does the choke **** just pull straight out or do I have to do some sort of twisting or something? In my experience a choke **** should just pull straight out. I pulled the cable and soaked it in wd40 so maybe it will break free if it is corroded. Just checking to see if I am missing something.

Default RE: Noob Choke Operation?

The choke should just pull straight out, it may have seized at the carbs. Trace the cable back to the carbs if u dont have a manual for the bike and spray the linkages etc. If it still is stuck you may need to whack the carbs of and give the carbs a good service.

If this is the case then while the carbs are off, it may be a good idea to remove the float chambers and give everything inside a good clean with carb cleaner.
