hey mate, they are a great bike to get started on in all comes down to personal choice, i suggest that u have a look around at other bikes and find what is best for u i have a gsxr 600 an im 6' 1 i get a bit of sore knees every now an then but its a perfect bike for me which i use it for riding to work an around town on but if u are looking at upgrading in the future i would look at the 750 gsxr.:D

RE: gsxr600 good starter bike?
Hey! I just got a 750 and I was always of the opinion that a person should learn on a slower bike but now I'm not so sure. These sportbikes are just so great and so easy to ride. Maybe they would spoil a guy, though, as you wouldn't really get to know what it would be like on a 'tougher' bike to ride. Just thinking of my old savage where I had to say a prayer to help get me around every corner. Even my 06 Bandit 650 was a chore to ride compared to my GSXR.
