Wide variability in power curve

Dear Y'all -

Newbie here, started riding at 50 years old. Just bought my second bike a 1995 GSX-R750W after 2 years of riding about 6k per year on my first bike a 2005 VStar 650 Classic.

This is only the second bike I've ever ridden more than just around the block.

I've got a couple questions. First, cleaning products. Everything is dirty, and I'd like recommendation for products to clean the chrome, farings... Second, there's wide variability in the power band, and she runs rough (during the 1/2 hour I've been on so far). The choke needed to stay on for the first ten minutes of riding if that helps.

Thanks in advance for any advice. Rubber side down.

Clean the carbs, new filters, an get them timed. Sounds like maybe a intake problem with the carbs. So try that, You can clean the old carb filters with dish soap to break down the grease, warm water will help too. Allow to dry an put them back on. Cleaning is easy, anything not hard on chrome. Clean with water an soap, polish chrome for a nice finish. I use some Plastic cleaner used on race car plastics. Forgot the name I'll check tomorrow an post when I can.
