Need new keys for my '86 GS-550 !!!!
Hi everyone, I'm new here. Just bought my first bike, a 1986 GS-550.
The owner lost the keys but told me I could remove the ignition switch and give the code to a dealer to get new keys made.
Others have told me the same but, when I called the only Suzuki dealer I know here in Honolulu and they said it wasn't possible.
Is this true or false? I already have the switch removed. I guess I can get a good locksmith to make one?
Thanks

RE: Need new keys for my '86 GS-550 !!!!
Hi Mr. rmusic72,
There should be a 3-digit number on the ignition switch, gas cap, or helmet lock. Any locksmith worth his salt can get a Suzuki blank (they are sold on ebay too) and fix you up with a new key. Good luck.
Thank you for your indulgence,
BassCliff

Thanks. I got it. The guy made a key in like 5 minutes. It cost me $24 cause its more expensive here in Hawaii.
I got the key, started the bike, and now I have the carbs off cleaning them up.
I'll have it going again this weekend.
Thanks
