Newby with a kickstart question
 

I scored a nice little bike at a garage sale, its an 83 rv125, very good cond. but the kick start doesnt engage very well, sometimes it will catch on the very bottom of the stroke, but not enough to get it to start.. Any ideas?? I pulled the side case off and it didnt look like the gears were in bad shape which makes me wonder if there is an easy fix..
