Engine Loud Clicking tries to start but won't run.

My son's car stopped running when he was driving down the freeway. The symptoms:

- Hear loud boom.
- Lost Engine Power.
- Oil has leaked from top of engine.

Any ideas?

When we check the oil it still has oil in the engine, we can't see any cracks in the head and there is no water in the oil that we can tell. The oil looked like it was leaking from the valve cover.

The engine always made a clicking sound and it was getting worse over the last year. We have removed the valve cover and can't see any damage to the cams.

I'm trying to get some more information before we go taking the head off or digging deeper. Any tips would be appreciated!!

The car is a 2004 Suzuki Aerio SX with 200K miles.

Thanks,

-P

Did you get to the bottom of it?

If not, i think i'd take of the sump and see what state the big ends are in.
