M50 handlebars
 

I have a 2007 M50 and find my arms are at max extension on a tight u-turn - especially on a right u-turn -Has anyone changed out their handlebars for a closer reach? I know the C50 has handlebars that have a shorter reach to them and wondered if anyone has tried switching out for those? Appreciate your input.

I had the exact same problem on my 2005 M50. I read on Motorcycle-Journal Forum that some people have replaced their M50 handlebars for the C50's. I ordered the C50 handlebar the other week from Babbitts.com and had my local M/C shop replace it. Man, what a big difference. I used to have a huge problem when I made U-Turns because my arms were at full extension. It made me feel as though the bike was too big although it wasn't. Nowadays, I more relaxed when I ride and have no problems at all when I do U-Turns.

Thereare some problemsthough with the handlebar swap...all of your cables will need to be rerouted so that it's behind the front fork. This may take some time and hence money if you're paying the shop $85 bucks/hour like I did (2.5 hours total).

Also, the throttle cable will need to be replaced with a longer set. The throttle cable will rub along the upper right part of the gas tank whenever you do a hard right turn.
