Project with Suzuki vz800

First, i'm totally new to this forum and this may actually not be the proper place to post this so if so, please let me know or move it for me!

Intro
I don't really know a lot about wiring or motorcycle engines but i'm trying to learn. However, a project sort of fell in my lap while racing at a sand drag track.

So now I have a dune buggy with a Suzuki Marauder vz800 motor half-heartedly mounted on the back and a wiring harness tossed in the seat! I'm going to fully rewire it just enough for the track, and so far it looks fairly simple, especially with this guide: Motorcycle Wiring 101 | Bike EXIF

My Issue
So the issue is that I'd like to start with new electronics because it's just cleaner. I found places for a stator, regulator/rectifier, coils and electrical heart. However, I cannot locate an ignition module other than the original OEM ignition modules (seen it also called the ecu, cdi, ignitor and others).

My Questions
1. Are there other options for an ignition module or am I stuck with OEM?
2. Do I really need to worry about matching the coils/ignition with the motor since I'm re-wiring everything? Like is there a such thing as a generic kit I could get?
3. If i'm stuck with OEM, does anyone know what leads on the ignition module I'd have to run to the coils?

Thanks for any information in advance!
