Default 1982 DR125 Ignition Coil?

Hey everyone this is my first post here. I bought a 1982 DR125 off of my buddy for 100 dollars. This bike runs and drives fine. There are alot of issues but nothing really horrible that effects running and driving. I want to fix it up to make it a daily driver for the summer to save some money instead of driving the diesel truck. This bike has been completely apart atleast two times that i know of and its lost some things along the way. I just put it in the basement for the winter and i am going to again tear it completely down to bare frame and powder coat as many things as i can to protect it with a nice clean looking finish.

A few questions.

First, my spark plug boot is cracked i believe it is ceramic and i want to get it fixed but the only way i see doing that is to replace the whole ignition coil and ofcourse they do not sell new ones that i know of but i seen a website list a coil that says it is compatible with 82-'02 model bikes. i was wondering if they all work because it would be easier to buy a new coil but i want to know if it works before i buy.

Second, is there any way that i can rig up a battery for this? I plan on putting some LED lights on for headlights but they require a constant 12v minimum with around 2.5 amps draw.

I am not trying to restore this bike back to original but i want to fix it up and make it look sharp and work well mechanically. I can not decide if i want to tear the motor down yet or not. I think i should because it smoke blue but i have head people say it is hard to get it timed again and beginners often have the piston bend the valve on first start up. Im undecided for right now im going to get everything tore down and ready for powder coat. That is a long process. Rarely any work has been done to this bike so any other suggestions for this bike is appreciated.

Welcome to the forum sir. I think you should use new spare parts instead of repairing the old ones. In this regards you can have full guidance from the Suzuki Repair Manuals that would guide you in proper repairing and maintenance of your bike.
