2001 grand vitara starting problem 2.0l Petrol

can anyone tell me if there is a correct way to start the above vehicle from cold as I have tried many different ways to start the vehicle. All to no avail once it has succesfully started it is fine to start throughout the day, Thanks in advance Darren.
