Suzuki RM250 gear engaging issue

Suzuki RM250 gear engaging issue
Hi
I bought a 93 RM250 recently which sometimes won't engage gear. To be more specific - I can move the gear lever and it feels like it is engaging (slight jerk) however no drive when release the clutch.... If I roll the bike forwards abit and press/depress the clutch it engages! Once I manage it to engage and take off all other gears are OK!
Have you guys had any of the above sympomts on you machines - what is the most likely cause?
