Default Air Intake Upgrade

I just purchased a 2006 C50 for the wife and darn if it isn't a fun bike!

My question is about air intakes. The stock intake, like most bikes, is somewhat restrictive and begs to be opened up. Are there any "stage 1" type air intakes for the C50? With fuel injection on my other bikes I have had to "flash" the ECM with an upgrade after increasing the air flow. Is the C50's ECM similar? Does Suzuki have the "flash" or will I need to go with an after market controller like the Power Commander?

Thanks for the replies. First post this forum and first Suzuki bike.

Default RE: Air Intake Upgrade

I have looked at and researched the hyper charger kit and would not suggest that anyone buy that piece of junk. It does not work the way it needs to for your bike, the butterflies are just for the look and the actual intake is a small slit under the charger, the butterflies are hooked up to the throttle assembly and work off throttle. This creates a horrible and almost impossible to adjust air flow on your bike, meaning that it will run like ****. There is aK&N air filter that you can put in place of your stock filter. If you are looking to actually increase air flow to a noticable amount i would go with.... Thunder Manufacturing Tornado Air Kit - Boulevard C50
you will need a power commander or TFI module for this and for a real HP increase you will need after market exhaust. I suggest a TFI, they are a lot cheaper and anyone can install and program one in about 1 hour. I have a TFI for my 06 C50 Custom w/Vance & Hines straight shots exhaust and this air intake is my next purchase.
