I have an '06 C90 and have had the thing break down on me 4 times. Each time it is electrical. 1st time mechanic said "loose battery connection." I checked it myself and it was NOT loose. 2nd time-"bad clutch switch" they replaced switch. 3rd-"wires rubbed against ech other in headlight assembly, shorted system." Mechanic fixed that too. This time, entire elec system went down while I was traveling70 mph on HWY 101 southbound. I only have 9500 FREEWAY miles on it.

 

Has anyone else experienced any of these symptoms too? If so, what was your prognosis?

 

On my 05 c90 I replaced the stator and hard wired it at the plug...Charging fine

1. Stator just fixed.. 1000 miles back..
2. can smell plastic melting.. then it won’t start

 

Stator keeps burning out..3 in 3 years.. last was 1000 miles back.
died at house this time.
i keep an extra battery to get home.. a jump starter battery to get going.. fix a flat... fire extinguisher can.
bike has plenty of power.
noting else goes wrong.. the stator wires melt.
