Default 4000 mile maintenance?

I have a 2006 S50 I purchased 2 years ago. It was originally purchased new in 2006, the previous owner only put 232 miles on it in 2 years so it mostly sat in the garage. I purchased it in 2008, immediately changed the oil and the final gear oil (which is supposed to be done at 500 miles). Now I have 5800 miles on it and went past the 4000 mile maintenace interval. I purchased a haynes manual and it says to check and adjust the valve clearance. I called a local shop and they said they would charge $170 to do it. I have the manual and even though I am not a mechanic, I have done basic maintenance on my cars like tune ups, alternators, etc. How hard is the valve clearance to do if you follow the instructions from the haynes manual?

Also, the 4000 mile maintenance package at the dealer is $300, and they would check over everything on the bike like throttle, clutch, etc. What do you guys think about this?

The only thing I have done since I got the bike 2 years ago is to change the oil twice (right away and at 4000 miles) and the final gear oil. Should I change the coolant, clutch and brake fluids?
