More power for Swift 1.3 ltr, fast cold idle
Hi
A friend has a manual 1996 1.3 ltr Swift.
First problem is that when the car is started dead cold it idles at around 2000 rpm & he has to blip the throttle so it goes down to a reasonable level. I presume the automatic choce has not been set properly?
Sometimes it stalls when going up a hill when cold.
Secondly the timing belt squeals when he starts the engine but the noise dissapears when its warmed up.
What basic mods can be done apart from changing the air cleaner & putting in new plugs to get a bit more power out of the crap engine?
Anyone tried increasing the timing to 8BTDC & running higher octane (95 or 98)?
Any suggestions?
