Default Sidekick nuetral safety switch?

93 Sidekick 4dr 2wd standard.
Over the past 6 months starting has been progressivly more difficult.
Twist the key, repeatedly nada..then all of a sudden it will turn over.
Experimenting yesterday, I put in nuetral, turned the key, and slowly pushed in the clutch...near the bottom it caught and started...Have now done this repeatedly, which makes me think there is proly a safety switch to keep you from starting in gear..Is true? Where located? Can I just find and wire across and promise to not start in gear?
thanx inadvance dp

Default RE: Sidekick nuetral safety switch?

Damn! I'm glad I'm not stuck on the side of the road! 40 people...2 months...no answer/guesses???
Thankful I'm not driving a 1923 Franklin or something really obscure.
