I have a 77 GS550, and I'm looking to rebuild it. It's in near running condition, but as it's an older bike, I'd like to take the time to give it the love it needs. It's my first bike, and it ran for two years; however, it sat garages for another two as I moved away for graduate school.

I'm looking for guidance on this undertaking. Where do I start? What are the critical "hot areas" to pay attention to? What's the best place for replacement parts since the bike is so old?

Ideally I'd like to get it road ready and safe to ride and do very little extra in terms of customization. (If this helps at all.)
