Default Am I too small for an 04 Katana 600?

Im a 28 yr old, 5'6, 145lb guy in fairly good shape. I have a year of experience on a 320lb 250 and feel like its way to small and light for me. I really love the look of the katana, but have never been on one. I have a chance to buy one in a few weeks, but need a little insight on the size. I will be riding as everyday commuter, not as a racer. (meaning ill be riding it in the rain). Any smaller guys/gals out there with a katana 600?
Thanks. Billy.

Hey Billy -

My initial reaction would be no but there are a few things to consider. The Katana 600 is a jump up in weight to 457 lbs, but I don't think that is significant. The seat height is 31 inches so depnding on your inseam size there is where the problem potetially lies. The obvious indicator would be the ability to sit on the bike with your feet comfortably on the ground with knees slightly bent. If you can do that, the next thing would be to shift the bike from side to side and see how you handle that. The rest is just confidence in yourself and whether the controls feel right to you, pressure on your hands and wrists and so on.

If you can do those things, I would think that you would be good to go! I am no expert by any means but this is how I was told how to shop for a bike that "fits". I'm 6'3" and 245 so I ended up with a GSX1250FA! In my case the 600 was way too small for me. But by all means try before you buy!

Hope that helped -
