Default a lost sparking black wire....

I just purchased a 1992 gsx600f......and by just purchased...i mean i bought it yesterday. Now i will say that the frame is from the gsx600f, and the man i bought it from had put a rebuilt 1100cc engine in that frame. He told me it was from another suzuki. Now, i know this makes the bike considerably faster, but it has a couple of big problems.....the most pressing is when i was driving tonight, i saw a blue spark that continually arced from a semi large disconected wire. The sparking occured in a ticking manner and it was a very strong current. the only thing i saw on the wire was a marking of the number one on a white circle band. i am thinking that it may be a spark plug wire.....it has a very bad backfire...but it doesn't look like a plug wire. i am very confused. any advice would be great. thanks.
