Default GSX-R600 2005 Lowering Advice?

I recently bought a GSX-R600, 2005. I am 5'7" and I think the bike is a little tall for me. I bought a lowering kit, but I am looking for advice on adjusting the front forks properly. I'm not sure how much to lower it to match my height. The front forks are now level with where the triple tree clamp is at the top. I was thinking of lowering it 2 inches in the back and 1 inch in the front. Does this sound right?

Lowering the front is only suggested for drag bikes, on a gsxr that will be used on normal streets, it is unsafe to lower the front. the amount of form travel will be affected and could cause a clearance issue, braking will change, and steering input will change. I am 5'6" and ride a 1000. I have not lowered anything, as I do not want to change the handling of the bike or make it unsafe.
