as title I have just bought a rm 250 was told its a 01 its down at my pals so cant get to the numbers to check need order a piston and other stuff so need know the year can you help me plz

The best way to know it is to check what kind of block you have.
Every single motor has numbers on it.
It may be harder some times to find the year.

On the right side of the crank case, there is an engine number starting with J.
Yours is most likely J119.
If so, search on ebay and you fill find the year of the cases that fit this number.
Or, some right side cases has a part number: Ex:1szz456 is a 1985 Rm 250.
If you look for the number on ebay, you fill find some parts.
Also, engines has engines codes.
Exemple, one of my Rm 250 has the 28C code written on the right part of the crankcase, clutch cover, cylinder head., wich correspond to 1989 to 1993 Rm 250.
Yours is most lickely 37f wich correspond to a 2001 RM 250.

Select the year and model and look for the corresponding engine. They are all different.
Takes some times but you get it.
If you still cant fint it, look for any numbers you can find on your engine and post them here.
