Anybody and everybody...and thats Suzuki's #1 problem here in the states...#2 being lack luster advertising! #3 being Daewoo/GM combined with negative press bearing the Suzuki badge.

But the multi-dealers are F'n up Suzuki's reputaion as a reliable car company. Granted they(most) dont have major problems but its the multi-dealer service departments and the lack of product knowledge...and the ability to fix the problem. AKA "the service after the sale"...if you thought the car was gonna have problems you wouldnt have bought it, and if it does, you have faith the dealerships service department will fix it.

Example, my dealerships service(Jeep/Eagle/Suzuki) department offers me $10 oil changes...thats great to get the customer in there! I find it a great time to address warranty concerns and have the minor problem fixed, because after all we have "Americas #1 warranty"(which BTW, was the only thing not lost in Suzukis advertising!)...but face it, A Jeep dealer is going to attract and hire a certain kind of mechanic...after going for my first oil change I noticed a drop in performance, as well as MPG...I searched for reasons why, a freind suggested the type/weight oil used might play a factor...I called the shop, "10w40, we use it on all our oil changes."...."Hello? WTF? Over!" "It says 5w30 right on the friggin cap!!! On another occassion, I watched a gorrilla of a mechanic beat my front wheel assembly mercilously for over 20 minutes trying to disassemble my wheel bearings...only to watch him stop, take a breather and finally consult the TSB, only to watch him finesse the assembly apart after having done so. At that point on a made it a point to ask the service manager if he had anybody working for him that actually drove a Suzuki vehicle and not an american truck of some sort?!? He said one guy, he drives a Vitara. I said "thats my man! I dont want anybody here ever working on my car but him!!!" He has done a fine job everytime...although he did mutter to me that he doesnt get paid for doing warranty work unless he relpaces a part. But I chalked that up to him having a bad day, and forget he just said this to a customer...I have a brake issue that hasnt been resolved, Ive got some noise coming from the front wheel area that can be heard but not remedied or even explained, and Ive got a case of spark knock which also seems to be as common(with Aerios) as my previous complaints...but the fact is the multi dealer service department doesnt have the experience, the know how, nor the resourses to do the job properly, efficiently and thuroughly to the point where the customer is totally satisfied...because we not only bought a car but we bought a service! And my only hope(I call it a dream) is that these stand alone dealers have got it figured out, and KNOW WTF is what!

BTW, I also tip my mechanic $10 everytime he touches my car...this does improve service, and its something simple anybody can do...keep going back to the same guy too!!!

Also worth noting, my mechanic informed me he was going to a Suzuki technical seminar, and promised me hed inquire about my issues, that he had no intentions of letting these issues beat him...and that he was hopeful to return with an idea on possible remedies. So, I too, am hopeful!
