Default Need Aid in AUtoTrans

I inherited a 2006 Forenza wagon through my wife making a bad decision of getting a car loan for her loser 20 yr old son. This car is a nightmare when it comes to simple maintenance. The auto trans seems to be slipping some, only 47K miles on it, and I wish to check/change the fluid. As you already know, no dipstick for the trans. I read the owners manual, and I found the inspection/fill plug (behind the rear motor mount bracket!!!). My question is, since no manual is available, do I have to drop the pan to drain the trans fluid or is that an actual drain plug in the pan? I assume also I have to unbolt the mount bracket to get at the plug to fill the trans, correct?
Any tips or help would be appreciated. My Corvettes are a dream to work on compared to this car!!!!! But, don't hold that against me..............................Thanks............ ...............Bruce
