Default dr 350 tune problems

hey there guys im new to this group . i have an old 1991dr 350 i have had it for about six months now and have had various problems with tune up . at first it wouldn't start at all after changing the main jet back to standard ( had ahuge 2 stroke one in there ) and i also changed the needle back to std i have had it runniing and have even done a few trail rides on it, BUT i still have underlying issuesranging from very hard cold starting to low idle to high idle and sometimes takes ages to return to idle. it also seems really low on power especialy at top end and WOT.I have also checked the pilot jet it is the standard one but i still have little to no adjustment on my air bleed screw . could it be that my bowl level is to high ? if so dose any one know how i should adjust it and what hight i should set it i am open to any feedback as i feel like im babging my head against a brick wall [&o] . the only mods i know of is a big headder pipe and exhaust
