83 GS400 Question (t-chain tensioner)
In an attempt to try and work on my own bike and get it running I removed the started and cleaned the contacts which was no big deal, but I had removed the timing chain tensioner to get at the starter (at the time I didnt realize what it was). Do I need to reset the timing since I removed it and reinstalled it or what is the general procedure? Any help would be appreciated, thanks

RE: 83 GS400 Question (t-chain tensioner)
Hi Mr. Zimmy,
You'll need to reset the cam chain tensioner. If you haven't removed the cam chain then there should be no need to re-time the valves or ignition. I have some tips on my website. Since you own a classic GS series bike, you may want to head over to www.thegsresources.com and join the forum there. Those guys know these old bikes like the back of their hand.
Thank you for your indulgence,
BassCliff
