Sony's 16GB HDR-CX380 HD Handycam Camcorder in black is a Full HD 1920 x 1080 video camera that shoots at 60 progressive frames per second and stores the video on its 16GB of internal flash memory. The camcorder features BIONZ image processor and a back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor for improved low light sensitivity. The video camera features a Sony G 30x optical zoom lens and Sony's Optical SteadyShot image stabilization system with Active Mode for camera shake reduction. The camera also features both manual focus and a Contrast AF auto focus system that are available through the touch panel feature of the 3.0" flip out LCD.

However, if you have some MTS video from CX380/B and try to imput to Final Cut Pro X, you are likely to meet some incompatible errors. In fact, AVCHD is not a comfortable format for editing with FCP, and 1920*1080@60fps is a nonstandard format for almost NLE's. As far as I know FCP X 10.0.4 can work well with the format. To edit footage shot on the Sony HDR-CX380/B in Final Cut Pro X you'd better first convert the footage to another format that fully supported by FCP X.

How to transcode Sony HDR-CX380/B MTS/M2TS to FCP X before importing

As we all know FCP 7 is fully compatible with Apple ProRes .mov format. And it can support 30fps/25fps frame rate well. To bring the nonstandard video to FCP X, the best solution is to convert Sony HDR-CX380 1080 60p AVCHD to 30p ProRes for Final Cut Pro X on Mac and then import to FCP X for smooth editing.



Step 1) Go to download and install the top AVCHD for Mac Converter on your Mac computer. Launch it to load your 1080 60p AVCHD footages to it for converting.
Tip: Check the “Merge into one” box for joining AVCHD clips together if you need.

Step 2) Click on the pull down menu of “Format” and select Final Cut Pro > Apple ProRes 422 as the output format.

Step 3) Press the “Settings” icon to freely set video resolution, frame rate, bitrate, etc freely. Best settings: setting video size as 1920*1080 and changing the frame rate to 30fps.

Step 4) Start converting AVCHD to .mov on Mac OS X via tapping on the Convert button.

When the conversion is completed, you can get the final output files effortlessly. Now, import and edit Sony HDR-CX380/B footage in FCP X without any incompatible issues.
