Exclamation Need some help with my carbs?

Hey just wondering if anyone knows much about the dual Mikuni Carb setup on soome the the older GS series bikes? I have a 1983 GS550L and it has the dual carbs. Seems that after a good cleaning that they are functioning properly. The only problem is that my idle jumps to about 3000 at startup, and stays there. We adjusted that cable at both locations by the carb and the throttle, and it lowered, but after a few revs, it was back up again. Any thoughts? Thanks

Try the cable i have a 1983 gs 1100 just rebuilt my carbs for the 50th time and put a jet kit in them anyway i had the same problem with starting out it was fine at first but after a few gears and some throttle mine would do the same thing my cable was twisted in the frame by gas tank , it was binding up and the cable was not retracting correctly , and another thing i found was the idle screw would turn at a high rev by itself i know it seems weird but every time i would goose the gas it would rev up and idle real fast anyway the screw was turning at fast rpm,s and i could not figure it out for a long time a head scratcher huh!! anyway the fix was teflon tape on the idle screw and dryslide sprayed in throttle cable ,take cable out of handle and stretch it upward and spray the mess out of it . hope i could help.
